Stay Gold

A couple of good local bands are playing. Not really planning on playing music that fits with their sound or the overall scene of the place though. Just playing what I wanna play. I don’t really care how the crowd responds to it. This effin gig is just an excuse to get paid for playing shit I like. Easiest job in the world. Haha.

Not 100% sure the gig is mine because the new booker is a little bit incompetent, but hopefully tomorrow is on! :)

I totally forgot about it. I usually keep my birthdays unannounced to most and very low key. But fuck dude, if I could throw a MJ themed birthday dance party, I totes would.

Last bday was pretty rough. We were all eating dinner when I got the bad news. It hit me extremely hard because I was raised on MJ music. Thriller was probably my first piece of music ever. I remember doing the Beat It “fight” routine with my sis during one of her birthday parties in the early nineties. My parents recorded it. It’s still around somewhere and it’s awesome.

Michael Jackson was my first favorite singer. June 25 will be a day to celebrate my life, as well as his music. His albums are very important to me.

If I had realized this a month earlier, plans would have been made to throw a big bash at a proper venue. But even if it’s just a party in my house with MJ tunes blastin, that’ll be good enough.  

I’ve had this since it came out in March. I’m 53 hours in the game and I know it’s almost over. It has to be. All in all, this is a somewhat disappointing Final Fantasy game, but still pretty good. It didn’t really live up to the hype, but something about it is really engaging. With most RPG’s, I usually get burned out and put them down for a couple of months, focus on other games, and then go back to it to finally finish it. But this game was different. While I haven’t been gaming too hard this year, I’ve been playing Final Fantasy pretty consistently when I actually spent time on my Playstation.

Special shout out to Lightning! It’s not often the main character of a game is a dominant female who doesn’t rely on sex appeal to be cool. It’s not about huge tits or a big ass, it’s about her being a total boss. One of my favorite Final Fantasy characters for sure. A lot of people say she’s just a female version of Cloud, which is accurate on some levels, but so what? She’s awesome.

Heavy Rain, 3-D Dot Game Heroes and Bayonetta are next. They’ve been laying around in my room unopened.

Total nerd at heart, but whatevs.

This band was way fucking slept on. I’ll never forget the first day I listened to No Kill No Beep Beep. It was my 15th birthday back in 2003. Very appropriate because the cover of that album is a big effing birthday party.

Anyway, Q And Not U were signed by Dischord, a legendary indie rock label out of Washington DC. The band consisted of three very talented musicians. John Davis is one of the best modern drummers in music without a doubt. They released three solid albums, each was way different from each other, and then they broke up back in 05. I miss them so much.

I think I’m going to start recording some music with a good friend of mine soon. He sent me some music and it sounded really cool. I really hope it gets done this summer, especially since I’m leaving NY for a little bit in the fall. I wanna make “tite bangers” before I go.

I’m going to have house parties every week at my place in Puerto Rico. Fuck it, right? Everyone’s invited! :)

These are brief clips of some of the work I did for Music My Guey, while I was working for MTV. For this particular project, I had to endorse Toyota. As you can see by my copy, I took it pretty lightly and had lots of fun with it. I miss being at MTV! :)

I play a character named FLAM on a semi high traffic website. And I play that character at events, and on social networking sites like twitter and facebook. It’s interesting to see how many people take it so seriously, and either embrace him or completely hate him. It’s a social experiment for me. Kinda how I’m convinced Kanye West does a similar act, but obviously, on a much larger scale. Most people I know call me by my stage name. Even people that have known me for years. It’s pretty weird. They think I’m him! Fascinating.

My professor told us that attendance isn’t mandatory, other than for tests. I wish I was good at math so I could not come to class on most days.
